Nice little watering hole and great food. Limited seating fills up fast. The reubano and Cubano are my favorites and the fries are out of this world

I wanted fish and chips on Sunday, 5/10/26 after fishing the Somoa Beach. Gallagher's was closed after my fishing (caught zero) after sunset. I went to Vista Del Mar, order fish and chips, an order of hot and sweet wings, and a side salad to go. The salad was fresh with romaine, some chopped veggies, and was delicious. Just what I wanted, fresh. The fish and chips were exceptional. The flavor of the battered cod was wonderful. Not over powering but a welcome addition to the fish. I make fried fish at home. I wish I could make them as tasty. The hot and sweet wings were well cooked, not too much but cooked thoroughly, and the sauce was excellent. I grew up near Buffalo and the wing culture. These were quality wings. A pizza oven to finish is best, and they don't have that, but very good. They would sell well in western New York state. The fries were good, not mushy, stable, cooked, and handled the dip well. A great take out, lasted 2 days,

Great food we hade a burger and fries. Waitress was awesome. It was very busy at 2 in the afternoon. Which always tells me it's good. Can't wait to go back.

We had the clam chowder, which was amazing, the special, spicy chicken sandwich which was very good and the nachos with carnitas. The carnitas were very good as well.

After a day of hiking among the magnificent redwoods, we stopped at Vista Del Mar based on recommendations for their fish and chips, and it did not disappoint. This is a classic local spot—unpretentious, welcoming, and full of character. There is plenty of parking, but be prepared for a crowd. The place was packed when we arrived, and we were fortunate to snag the last two seats at the bar. I ordered the fish and chips with tater tots, and the portion was enormous. The fish was perfectly cooked with a crisp, flavorful batter, and there were so many tater tots that I couldn't finish them all. My partner had the fish tacos, which were excellent, and we shared an order of the firecracker shrimp that was a great way to start the meal. The beer selection was outstanding, with plenty of local and regional options to choose from. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy and staffed by only two bartenders, the service was friendly, attentive, and impressively efficient throughout our visit. If you're looking for an authentic Eureka experience with great seafood, cold beer, and a lively local atmosphere, Vista Del Mar is well worth a stop.

We were recently passing through Eureka, CA on our northern California vacation. My wife did a search online for a lunch spot and found the Vista Del Mar. From the name, we pictured a nice waterfront restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the water. The actual setting is a little more basic: it's in a fairly "industrial" area near the docks and is a basic white building. The sign in the window saying "No One Under 21" was a clue that this was not what I imagined. Rather, it was a bar that offered more than just bar food. Even though I am not a bar guy, I am glad we stayed because, as it turns out, they offer really good food! Considering that the bartender was the server and the place was packed for lunch, service was good. My wife had grilled fish tacos and I had fried oysters with a side salad. I don't know if they source these from nearby docks, but the oysters were fresh, juicy, and delicious! It was one of the best meals we had on our trip! If I ever find myself in Eureka again, I would not hesitate to have lunch here again!

Definitely a place enjoyed by locals! The fire cracker shrimp was SO good. Pourboy shrimp sandwich was delicious and fried oreos! You know the seafood is fresh when the crab pods are next door! Right on the bay/dock! More of a bar/pub scene. The food is so good!
